Eike J. Lange · Coaching & Transformation

The world
is changing.
People
too.

I guide people and organisations through real change — as sparring partner, sounding board and mentor. For the decisions you can’t discuss in-house. 20 years of leadership practice, one throughline: I turn complexity into clarity.

Change needs

clarity.

And courage.

Scroll

When?

When coaching actually helps.

01

When the old structures no longer fit — but the new ones aren’t here yet.

You sense things have to move on — but not in the familiar direction. What’s familiar no longer carries. What’s new isn’t tangible yet. This is where someone who isn’t caught inside the system helps.

02

When your head is full — and no one really listens neutrally.

Strategic decisions need a space beyond your own organisation. No colleagues, no consultants with an agenda, no family with worries. Just clear thinking — ordered.

03

When the next step doesn’t come from more-of-the-same.

You’re good at what you do. Maybe too good. Growth at the next level almost always means: think differently, not do more. That takes a sparring partner.

What you get

A sparring partner as an equal — sounding board and mentor.

For the decisions you can't discuss in-house. Clear, confidential, no agenda.

How I work

01

I offer sparring.

Strategic reflection, not an echo. I ask hard questions where needed — and listen where it matters. Coaching isn’t a consulting session with off-the-shelf solutions. It’s a thinking space where your own answers become clearer.

Strategic Reflection Clarity Sessions Decision Sparring
02

I accompany.

Through transformation stress, through complexity, in phases without clear direction. Staying with it when the path is still forming — and not falling into a frenzy when the solution doesn’t arrive tomorrow.

Transformation Support Crisis Phases Longer-Term Processes
03

I ask.

So you can sharpen your own thinking. Coaching on the principle: the answers are within you — I help you find them. With methods from agile organisational development and systemic coaching practice. Grounded — and dosed: depth and pace follow your concern, not a programme.

Systemic Coaching Reflection Methods Self-Clarification
04

I share experience.

20 years in leadership, transformation and publishing. When it helps, I add mentoring. When it doesn’t, I keep it out. Coaching and mentoring are two different things — I master both and know when each is called for.

Stance

Close enough to
understand.
Far enough to help.

“Agile coaches guide teams, organisations and individuals through their change. They act detached, dissociated and empathetic.”

— Beratung Judith Andresen · coach stance

The terms of the trade behind it — detached, dissociated, empathetic: distance from the matter, to frame problems and solutions without judgement. Dissociation from the system, so as not to become part of the problem — role clarity, not withdrawal. Empathy, to acknowledge the concern.

“It is not about advice. It is about creating clarity where complexity blocks action.”

— Eike J. Lange · my stance

Part of that stance is quality assurance: I reflect on my coaching work in supervision every two weeks. And I work in line with the established ethical standards of professional coaching — clear contracts, clear boundaries, confidentiality without exception.

Coaching

Three formats.
One stance.

From 1:1 coaching for leaders to multi-month organisational support. Whether you’re looking for yourself, for your team or for your organisation — the three formats below are sorted exactly that way. All formats are deliberately limited — intake via the waitlist. What actually varies per mandate: depth, frequency, duration — and how much of your context comes into the room.

The entry point Contracting workshop — one day For individuals — or pairs and small leadership groups of 2–3. One day of focused work: sharpen the concern, clarify the brief, draw a first map — what’s there, what should be different, how you’ll notice. At the end: a clear brief — or the honest conclusion that you don’t need one. Both count as a result. One day · on-site or remote · always preceded by a first conversation (60 minutes, free) · Fixed price: €2,900 incl. preparation and follow-up From here, it continues into the 1:1 or team format — or deliberately doesn’t.

Private to C-Level · 1:1 · On request

1:1‑Coaching

On request

Hamburg · Lüneburg · Remote

1:1 support for people in change — from personal stock-taking to leadership decisions at C-level. The same stance, at different depths depending on context: from private coaching to executive coaching.

Who it’s for

  • Private coaching — personal stock-taking, life and career decisions, transitions
  • Executive coaching — leaders and senior profiles, strategic decisions, role and impact
  • In common: a topic with no neutral counterpart in your own circle
  • And one clear boundary: coaching is not psychotherapy — where therapeutic support is needed, I say so openly and refer on.

How it works

  • First conversation — free and non-binding; clarify the concern and the fit
  • Clarify the brief — what should be different in the end? (the biggest part of the work)
  • Sessions — active listening, open questions, space instead of premature solutions
  • If needed — occasional sparring even after closing

Outcomes

  • Clarity about your real concern and a clear goal
  • Considered options for action instead of premature solutions
  • Confidentiality, contractually guaranteed — what’s discussed stays in the room; what reaches a sponsor (and what never does) is agreed in writing up front

Format & duration

Entry via first conversation and contracting workshop (see “The entry point”) · typical scope: 4–8 sessions of 90 minutes over 3–6 months · Hamburg / Lüneburg or remote · German or English

Currently not available — deliberately few mandates in parallel, so each gets the depth it needs. Contact me to join the waitlist.

Methodological basis

Grounded in training as an Agile Coach and Executive Coach (Beratung Judith Andresen). At the core: active listening, a clean brief clarification and working with hypotheses — and giving space where thinking needs to go further. Discreet and confidential.

Support for leadership, project and cross-functional teams through upheaval, restructuring or strategic realignment. I help the team clarify its own collaboration — not imposed from outside, but worked out together.

Typical triggers

  • New team composition or change of leadership
  • Friction that blocks pace and performance
  • A strategic realignment the whole team must carry

How it works — four steps

  • Clarify the brief — with sponsor and team: what should be different in the end?
  • Take stock — confidential conversations, an honest picture of the collaboration
  • Work together — facilitated sessions on the real issues, in short learning loops
  • Anchor — secure ground rules and new routines, hand over to the team

Outcomes

  • An honest, anonymised picture of the team situation
  • Confidentiality in the triangle: the sponsor receives exactly this picture — aggregated and anonymised, no individual statements; what’s said in the room stays in the room.
  • The foundation for a team charter: ground rules and roles the team works out itself — and therefore owns
  • A roadmap that comes from the team — with clear ownership
  • Routines for the team to keep learning on its own (e.g. retrospectives)

Format & duration

Entry via the contracting workshop (see “The entry point”) · support from 6–12 weeks to multi-month · on-site, remote or hybrid · modular scope

Currently not available — deliberately few mandates in parallel, so each gets the depth it needs. Contact me to join the waitlist.

Methodological basis

Grounded in training as an Agile Coach (Beratung Judith Andresen). Proven models like team phases (Tuckman), team roles, conflict escalation (Glasl) and SCARF (social threat and reward patterns). The team finds its own answers; I facilitate and give impulses.

Support for organisations through structural change. Not a new org chart from the top — but the shared path from the real concern, via the most effective lever, to a clear target picture. Change is steered deliberately, instead of just happening.

Typical triggers

  • A desire for change that a new org chart can’t solve
  • Structures that no longer fit what customers need today
  • A change that’s coming anyway — one you want to shape actively rather than endure

How it works — two phases

  • Understand — honestly capture the current state and sharpen the real concern · orientation
  • Find the lever — in small, low-risk experiments, clarify where change has the most effect · orientation
  • Implement — derive a clear target picture and move toward it in short cycles · implementation
  • Anchor — make the new way of working routine and hand it into the team’s own ownership · implementation

Outcomes

  • Clarity about the real concern — and a steady rhythm in which the organisation learns
  • Confidentiality in the triangle: feedback to sponsor and organisation is aggregated and anonymised — individual statements from conversations stay in the room.
  • A jointly identified lever and a clear target picture
  • An internal core team we build up along the way — so the change belongs to the organisation, not to the coach
  • New routines, anchored in everyday work — and an organisation able to keep learning on its own

Format & duration

Multi-month, modular, scalable · hybrid · two phases — first advising, then accompanying the team through implementation

Currently not available — deliberately few mandates in parallel, so each gets the depth it needs. Contact me to join the waitlist.

Methodological basis

Grounded in training as an Agile Organisational Developer (Beratung Judith Andresen). At the core: steer change deliberately instead of letting it happen — and develop the ways of working first, the structure second. Proven models like Kotter (phases of change), Cynefin (ordering complexity) and diffusion theory (how new things take hold) are used where they genuinely help — and stay in the case where they don’t.

Method

Three programmes.
20 years of practice.

My coaching and organisational-development approach is based on three multi-year programmes at Beratung Judith Andresen — one of the most respected names for agile organisational development and coaching in the German-speaking region.

Added to that: 20 years of my own leadership and transformation practice in publishing houses and ongoing change and transformation processes. Theory from the textbook. Experience from real life.

— Why coaching worksCoaching isn’t a gut-feeling format. Psychotherapy research (Klaus Grawe) identifies five factors that make change work — my practice is built around them: a solid working alliance (confidentiality, eye level) · activating strengths instead of managing deficits · working on the real issue (your current situation, not textbook cases) · clarity about your own motives (goals made explicit) · actually practising new behaviour (short learning loops instead of good intentions).

The tools behind it — for those who want the detail: four of many in each box below. In the coaching itself, what counts is never the model — it’s the right moment.

01

Agile Organisational Development

Structural work at organisation level. Spot path dependencies, break up implicit rules, find the lever — and develop new structures with the people meant to carry them.

— Toolbox · four of many

Cynefin — ordering complexity

Kotter — 8 phases of change

Change curve — understanding reaction patterns

Agile maturity levels — where your organisation stands and what comes next

02

Agile Coach

Foundation for the coaching stance. Coaching process and hypothesis-building, brief clarification in complex environments, change models and systemic interventions.

— Toolbox · four of many

Tuckman — how groups become teams

Riemann-Thomann — reading relationship dynamics

Glasl — recognising escalation stages

SCARF — social threat & reward

03

Executive Coach

1:1 support at the highest level. Seven modules of training, coaching and supervision. Focus on real-world leadership and resource-oriented coaching practice.

— Toolbox · four of many

Using personal parts and drivers as strengths

Circle of Influence — energy where you actually have leverage

Values development square — strengths in balance, not overdrive

About

Eike J.
Lange

Agile Coach · Agile Organisational Developer
Conceptual Lead · Executive Coach
Group Editor-in-Chief · Director Brands

For 20 years I’ve guided organisations, brands and teams through change — as a leader, brand builder and coach. I don’t coach from hindsight: I lead myself, today, as Director Brands at Bauer Media Group. What emerged wasn’t a method — but a stance.

Today I work with people and organisations who need to find their next phase. Some come with clear questions. Some come without. Both are fine.

I’m convinced: change isn’t something you get through. It’s something you can shape.

Organisations get method. People get stance. The clarity is the same.

— Role & BoundariesRelevance Code is my employer-approved independent practice alongside my main role as Director Brands at Bauer Media Group. That's exactly why I take on only a few mandates in parallel — the waitlist isn't a gesture, it's the consequence. Both roles stay strictly separate: no mandates in the direct competitive field, confidentiality in both directions, and when in doubt I decline — clarified before any proposal. What the dual role gives you: I don't advise on anything I don't answer for myself, every day, in a major media company.
